Sock Report

Wore the Step socks all day yesterday and at the end of the day my feet didn’t feel so beat up…so far so good.

Worked a while on the Tofutsies sock…while thinking about six or seven new projects :>)…

Step on It!

Finished the pair of Austermann Step socks this morning…they would be exactly mated except for one of the feet has an “anomoly” in the dye process…not bad just different and definitely not matching ANYTHING else in pattern (and some color strength variations too).  I can only think that it was the end of a dye run and rather than doing it what I consider to be right, they took the short cut just thinking that since it was inside the ball nobody would know.  It irritates me when I pay yarn store prices (as opposed to WalMart prices) for what is supposedly quality yarn and get stuck with things like this.

I support the Mission Falls people for closing when they realized how the quality of their yarn had deteriorated.  I was using some of the stuff I hoarded when they announced that they were closing and I found one ball with five knots in it!  The rest all had at least one knot per ball.  I haven’t found one knot in the new stuff.  We’ll see.  I do like 1824 Wool and Cotton…

RANT mode off!

Judy Sumner made a comment on the KnitTalk Group on Yahoo that she had startitus…yup…I’m right in there with her.

The DB sweater is knitted but not sewn together…the second socks are both in the mindless knitting stage…good for evening tubing.  The yarn for the much needed fingerless gloves for my computer and the pattern are just sitting there (where IS that pair I made last year???).

But I cast on for Norberta (winter 06 knitty) the dragon and I am enjoying the knit immensely…I had bought the yarn last year sometime (you know, during the knit from stash year…ahem…) and intended to make it as soon as I got it…but well…I actually have the yarn for two…it is going to my almost a year old grandson…one in red and white for his mother’s beloved Bama…and one in burgundy and gold for his father’s beloved Redskins…  Will post pictures when I get them done and figure out how…

I am working on a DB pattern…no I don’t want to give her whooooooole name…you knitters know who I mean…sized for 18 months but going to fit my FOUR YEAR OLD granddaughter (with much room to spare, yes I am getting gauge)…I have been reading some others’ comments in various blogs and lists and I find this is a common problem with DB patterns.  I guess I know now to check the finished size against Ann Budd to see who they really fit!
